Movie buffs and TV binge watchers have probably noticed the “Made in Georgia” tag in some of their favorite films and shows. The state has been named the “Hollywood of the South,” thanks to a number productions shooting in the area.
Atlanta Movie Tours was created because of the many small and big screen hits filmed in Georgia. It gives visitors and locals the opportunity to see the city in a different way. Their tours have something that everyone from classic movie fans to superhero geeks will enjoy.
Check out some of their most popular tours:
The Walking Dead fans will definitely enjoy Atlanta Movie’s Big Zombie bus tours and walking tour. Since so much of the show is filmed in Atlanta and Senoia, GA, the bus tour is divided into three different parts.
The Big Zombie Bus Tour Part 1 visits Atlanta locations from Seasons 1 to 5 which includes the hospital at the beginning of the series, the Goat Farm, the Jackson Street Bridge, and the location where they filmed the tank scene. There will also be Season 9 locations added soon.
Part 2 is in Senoia, also known as “Woodbury” and now, “Alexandria” to fans – an hour away from Atlanta. This tour lets fans explore locations from Seasons 2 to 5. It features the Zombie Arena, Morgan’s apartment, Hershel’s bar, and where (spoiler alert!) Merle’s death scene was shot.
Big Zombie Tour 3 features new locations from Seasons 6 to 9, as well as some from Seasons 2 and 3. Notable locations are Glenn and Nicholas’ dumpster, Rick’s Bridge, and (another spoiler alert!) where Denise died. The tour is led by a behind-the-scenes expert who has worked with the cast and crew of The Walking Dead. This person can provide actual insights and tidbits about your favorite show.
Meanwhile, the walking tour is perfect for those who really want to get an up-close-and-personal look on The Walking Dead locations. The tour is a one-hour trek in Senoia with visits to “Woodbury” and outside of “Alexandria”.
Marvel fans are sure to find Atlanta Movie’s Hero tour to be super fun. This three-hour tour features locations from movies such as Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the first-ever superhero movie nominated for an Oscar, Black Panther.
Adding to an already action-packed day, the tour also features locations from The Hunger Games trilogy and The Walking Dead.
See how the iconic story of Gone with the Wind came to be in this theatrical tour. It is led by a Margaret Mitchell impersonator who narrates her life story and how she wrote the novel that inspired the movie as you navigate through Atlanta.
The tour features a visit to Mitchell’s Midtown home where she wrote her Pulitzer Prize-winning piece. Fans will also get to see Mitchell’s award, typewriter, and some of the first drafts of Gone with the Wind.
If you’re looking for the ultimate movie and TV tour experience, the Best of Atlanta tour is perfect. It features spots from other themed tours and locations from movies like The Fast and the Furious, Jumanji, Baby Driver, Anchorman 2, Rings, as well as TV shows like The Real Housewives of Atlanta, MacGyver, and Stranger Things.
