This city embodies that unbridled beauty and dynamism of flowing water.
Named for Johns Creek, a tributary of Chattahoochee River, this city embodies that unbridled beauty and dynamism of flowing water. Locals call it “The exception to everyday” – indeed, this is where the mundane meets the extraordinary, from robust economic growth to strong civic engagement.
Johns Creek consistently ranks among the safest places to live in Georgia, while its schools have landed coveted spots in U.S. News and World Report’s list of “Top High Schools in the United States.” It is home to a number of Fortune 100 companies, making it a great place to build a career or launch a business.
Incorporated on December 1, 2006, Johns Creek spans 32 square miles of gorgeous terrain, a large portion of which consists of protected areas and riverfront acreage. The US Census estimates the 2017 population at 84,350, making it the 10th largest city in the state.
Located in Fulton County, Johns Creek is bordered by Forsyth County to the north, Alpharetta to the northwest, Roswell to the south and west, and Gwinnett County to the south and east. It is within driving distance of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The city was Cherokee territory before settlers came to the area in search of gold. These settlers built trading posts throughout the 1830s, and the Cherokee were forced out of the area by the federal government.
Fulton County absorbed the city upon Milton County’s dissolution in the 1930s. About 50 years later, in the 1980s, a number of graduates from Georgia Tech (Georgia Institute of Technology) bought land in the area. They established a planned community called Johns Creek Technology Park, which managed to attract over 200 companies.
Johns Creek saw remarkable population growth in 1980s and 90s, prompting the city’s incorporation in 2006.
The housing stock is made up of single-family homes, townhomes, and condos. There is an excellent selection of mid-range and luxury homes. There’s also a good mix of new construction homes and older homes that were built in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Buyers can choose from tennis and golf communities with exquisitely crafted homes and resort-style amenities. Prevalent architectural styles include Craftsman and Traditional.
The largest homes in the city can have as many 6 bedrooms, along with wine cellars, media rooms, and private gyms.
Some of the most coveted neighborhoods include:
Developments such as the opening of Ellsworth, a new energy efficient single-family home development, and the construction of a townhome project on 23 acres of prime land reflect the growth and dynamism of real estate in John’s Creek.
