History of Druid Hills

Druid Hills was one of Atlanta's first planned suburbs. Joel Hurt, a prominent Atlanta land developer, commissioned Frederick Law Olmsted in 1893 to create his "ideal residential suburb." Olmsted, who previously designed New York's Central Park and the Stanford University campus, created Druid Hills as a model of suburban planning.
